The Emergence of Good Governance in Major Projects.

Research by Dr Rick Forster

This research seeks to understand effective governance strategies for major projects within the public sector; identifying and understanding what constitutes effective governance is a challenge within this context given the inherent complexity and instability of major public projects. In address of this problem, the research attempts to generate three key points of knowledge: What elements constitute a viable system within major projects, are there failure and success profiles for viable governance systems within major projects, and finally what pre-existing conditions (if any) lead to the eventual creation of a ‘viable governance system’. The aims of this research are to (1) Provide researchers with an in depth understanding of governance systems and procedures of major public projects, (2) provide insights into how these originate and (3) generate theory to test on a larger sample.

Project completion has been forecast for December 2021.
