Delivering Impact in an expertise economy

In the first quarter of 2022, Dr Rebecca Vine and Professor Paul Nightingale worked alongside UK Research and Innovation and the ESRC to examine impact lessons to be learned from the Project X. The outcome is summarised in 2 blogposts published by the ESRC in January and February 2022 titled "Delivering Impact in an expertise economy" detailing:

  • The growing complexity of modern innovation and government services that render traditional linear models of research impact misleading.

  • Why impact generation requires collaboration to build shared stocks of expertise.

  • Project X's unique and impactful model of co-designed and co-produced research creating a new generation of interdisciplinary scholars.

This work has led to several initiatives with other research institutions (LSE) and government departments, extending the Project X collaboration.
